What is theatre for?

Sometimes I hear people say: “But inside a circus shows what is theatre for? What use does it have? In Uganda then! “

If by theatre we mean a pure entertainment, then it is simply a way to spend relaxing moments. But if by theatre we mean the possibility of deepening the knowledge of ourselves and the world around us through a language capable of speaking, at the same time, to our brain and our heart then those moments become the desire to dream of a better future. Only by dreaming of a better world can we try to make it happen. We can die, but our dreams never. Immersed in a show we can see our problems represented and give space back to the spirit. Reflect on who we are and the people we accompany us. Theatre is the truth that moves from our most spiritual side and instils strength and desire for life.

Theatre is also a community and mutual understanding between humans. Dialogue, through a spiritual meta language, between audience and stage, between performers and spectator… we stay together and reflect on millions of questions looking inside us with courage. Is being together, forming community and feeling that no one is useless. You can exchange opinions on the show on which you are witnessing. It is a mutual enrichment, sometimes also made up of “clashes”, but it is still an exchange of visions and subjective realities in which it becomes possible to modify the mutual certainties. We can compare ideas, points of view and understand that our life is a “mysterious relationship with everyone and everything”. It leads us to understand the complexity of a world that is not only made of black and white but is imbued with shades that are our strength. It is communication that builds bridges and not walls; it is collaboration, the synergy between actors and spectators, aimed at getting to know and getting to know each other better.

Remaining in a very current theme, theatre is a spiritual vaccine against the desire to give in to problems. And this glimmer of light that penetrates into the dark, in which we wander too often, cannot and do not want to give up.
